Olaus, S. (1)

1S. Olaus, König in Schweden, wurde vom heil. Anscharius im 9. Jahrhundert bekehrt. Zur Zeit einer Hungersnoth hatte er sich geweigert, den Götzen Upsala's ein Opfer zu bringen, und dieselben um das Aufhören der Plage anzuflehen, und diese Weigerung verursachte einen Aufruhr in Bizen, wo er seinen Herrschersitz aufgeschlagen hatte. Er wurde daselbst von den Götzendienern dieser Stadt, nächst deren Mauern sich die Stadt Stockholm erhoben hat, erschlagen. (Mg.)
