2S. Salome (22. Oct. al 3. Aug.), eine der frommen galiläischen Frauen, welche Spezereien kauften, um den Leichnam Jesu einzusalben, war die Mutter der hhl. Apostel Jakobus1 d. Aeltern und Johannes17 und Augenzeugin des Leidens und der Auferstehung des Herrn. Von ihrer weitern Lebensgeschichte ist nichts bekannt. Man glaubt, sie sei zu Jerusalem gestorben. Sie findet sich mit dem Vornamen Mariaim heutigen Mart. Rom. Im J. 1448 wollte man ihre und der hl. Maria14 Jacobi Reliquien aufgefunden haben. Abbildungen zeigen sie ein Gefäß mit Specereien tragend. (IX 435–476.)
