1S. S. Theopemptus (Theopompus). Ep. et Theonas, M. M. (3. al. 4. Jan., 21., 23. und 25. Mai). Der Martertod des hl. Bischofes Theopemptus von Nicomedia wird von Boll. beiläufig ins J. 284 gesetzt. Ob etwas daran historisch ist, läßt sich kaum ermitteln. Nach den fg. »Acten« ging er in dem Feuerofen, zu welchem man ihn verurtheilt hatte, unverletzt auf und ab; als ihm das rechte Auge ausgestochen wurde, wurde es alsbald wieder ersetzt, so daß er mit dem ausgestoßenen Auge so gut sah wie mit dem unverletzten; er nahm ohne Schaden zwei von dem Zauberer Theonas bereitete giftige Getränke und bekehrte ihn durch dieses Wunder zu Christus; nachdem er denselben im Gefängnisse unterrichtet und getauft hatte, ließ Diocletian den heil. Bischof enthaupten, den heil. Theonas aber, der jetzt Synesius (der Verständige) hieß, in eine Grube werfen, und mit Erde überschütten. Die Namen beider hhl. Martyrer stehen im Mart. Rom. Vgl. S.
