2S. Beda junior, Mon. (10. April). Der hl. Beda, der Jüngere genannt, ein Mönch im Gebiete der Sadt Rovigo, war aus Sachsen gebürtig und wurde auf Zuthun Karls des Großen zu den Studien gebracht. Nach Vollendung seiner Studien diente er dem Kaiser 45 Jahre am Hofe, und ging dann mit dessen Erlaubniß in seinem 70. Jahre in das Kloster Gabella im Venetianischen, wohin er sich mit einem seiner Diener, Namens Venerius, begeben hatte. Hier führte er ein heil. Leben, wirkte viele Wunder und starb im J. 883, worauf er in der Klosterkirche begraben wurde. Als später dieses Kloster zerstört wurde, brachte man seinen Leib nach Genua. Im Jahre 1586 wurde er vom Papst Sixtus V. »heilig« gesprochen.
