1S. Gildardus, Ep. (8. Juni, al. 10. Juli). Dieter hl. Gildardus (frz. St-Godard, sonst auch Gildart und Gildaredus genannt) war am Anfange des 6. Jahrhunderts Bischof von Rouen (Rotomagus). Es ist aber wenig Sicheres von ihm bekannt. Im Jahr 508 oder 511 wohnte er dem ersten Concil von Orleans bei. Der hl. Bischof Landus von Coutance (Constantia) erhielt von ihm die bischöfliche Weihe. Er leitete 15 Jahce lang (angeblich unter den Päpsten Felix, Gelasius, Anastasius, Symmachus und Zene) seine Kirche. Die Angabe mehrerer Martyrologien, er sei ein Zwillingsbruder des hl, Medardus, mit ihm an demselben Tage geboren, ordinirt und gestorben etc., ist nach den Bollandisten eine Erfindung, die im 9. Jahrh. zum ersten Mal auftauchte, als die Reliquien des hl. Gildardus nach Soissons in die Kirche des hl. Medardus übertragen wurden. Der Name Beider steht auch im Mart. Rom. am 8. Juni. Ihre Translation ist bei Gelenus auf den 10. Juli angegeben. Bei Butler (VII. 539) steht er übrigens auch am 8. Juni. (Jun. II. 67–69. Jul. III. 2.)
