Isabella de Cruce (5)

5Isabella de Cruce, (20. Febr.), die Tochter des Fernando Manuel und der Johanna Mendez, erblickte das Licht der Welt im J. 1601 zu Xerez in Spanien. Frühzeitig schon ergab sie sich den Uebungen der Buße und trat in den dritten Orden des hl. Franciscus, gegen welchen sie eine zärtliche Verehrung in ihrem Herzen trug. Bei einer Erscheinung desselben streifte Isabella seinen Habit mit ihrem Rosenkranze, der von diesem Augenblicke an einen überaus lieblichen Geruch behielt, den sie und Andere wahrnahmen. Sie endete ihr jungfräuliches Leben im 80. Jahre ihres Alters am 20. Febr. 1681 und wurde in der Pfarrkirche zum hl. Erzengel Michael vor dem Altare der allerseligsten Jungfrau begraben. (Born.)
