[Der Name Isabella stammt besonders aus Spanien, wo mehrere Königinnen so hießen, und ist so viel als Elisabeth. Er heißt im Franz. Isabeau, im Span., Engl. und Holländ. Isabel. Die Herleitung von Jezabel (Hebr. Isebel), so nahe sie auch liegt, ist jedenfalls unrichtig.]
