Itherius, S. (1)

1S. Itherius, (25. Juni), Bischof von Bourges (Bituricae) im westlichen Frankreich, wird von Saussayus angegeben. Nach Zedler (IV. 914), wo er nach den Sammarthanern S. Aetherius heißt, war er der 3te Bischof von Bourges und trägt das J. 296. Sein heil. Vorgänger heißt bei Saussayus S. Sanvitianus, bei Zedler S. Sevitianus oder Senecianus, welchen jedoch die Bollandisten im Hauptregister nicht angeben. Uebrigens machen diese sowohl am 25. Juni (V. 3), wo sie den hl. Itherius1 unter den »Uebergangenen« haben, als auch am 8. Juli (II. 629), wo sie den hl. Bischof Itherius2 von Nevers behandeln, die Bemerkung, daß die allgemeine Verehrung nur diesem jüngern hl. Bischof Itherius von Nevers gelte. Vielleicht ist mit der Zeit die früher dem ältern hl. Bischof Itherius etwa gewidmete Verehrung ganz in die des jüngern aufgegangen, von welchem der nachfolgende Artikel handelt. †
