S. Kentigerna, (7. Jan.), eine Wittwe, welche bei den Bollandisten am 7. Jan. (I. 354) unter den Prätermissen einfach erwähnt wird. Nach Butler (I. 154) war sie eine Tochter des Fürsten Kelly (nach Migne Kelly-Feriach) von Leinster in Irland, und die Mutter des hl. Abtes Fölan oder Felan, wie es auch bei den Bollandisten im Leben dieses hl. Filanus (s.d.) am 9. Jan. (I. 594. nr. 2) heißt. Weiter steht bei ihnen am 13. Oct. (VI. 225. nr. 11. 12) im Leben des hl. Abtes Conganus1, daß dieser der leibliche Bruder unserer hl. Kentigerna, und daß ihr Vater der König Kelleus Cuallaun von Leinster (Lagenia) gewesen sei. Nach dem Tode ihres Gemahls ging sie in ein schottisches Kloster, wo sie die Gemeinde durch ihre Demuth und Buße erbaute. Später zog sie sich nach Locloumont auf der Insel Inchelroch an der Küste von Irland zurück, wo sie als Nonne ein sehr strenges Leben führte und am 7. Jan. 728 starb. Nach Adam King trug eine ansehnliche Pfarrkirche zu Locloumont (Lochlomond) ihren Namen. †
