Maroveus

Maroveus. Obwohl dieser Maroveus, in der Reihenfolge der neunzehnte Bischof von Poitiers, nirgends als Heiliger verzeichnet ist, glauben wir doch wegen der besondern Lobsprüche, mit welchen Gregor von Tours seiner gedenkt, ihm ein Plätzchen einräumen zu müssen. Er lebte im Ausgang des siebenten Jahrhunderts. Als König Guntram Stadt und Land verwüstete, schonte er selbst der kostbaren Kirchengeräthe nicht, um sich und das Volk von ihm loszukaufen. In der Visitation des Bisthums übte er große Sorgfalt. Man kann ihn deßhalb nicht mit Unrecht als Schüler des großen Hilarius preisen. (Hist. Fr. VII. 24. de gl. conf. 106. De mirac. S.
