4S. Nicolaus Mysticus (15. Mai). Dieser hl. Patriarch von Constantinopel, war Haupt des Senates unter Kaiser Leo VI. (vom J. 886–911). Er folgte im J. 895 dem hl. Antonius Kauleas auf dem Stuhle von Constantinopel nach. Da er der viertmaligen Verehlichung des Kaisers Leo VI. durch die Excommunication des letztern sich widersetzte, wurde er exilirt, nach des Kaisers Tode aber auf seinen Sitz zurückberufen. Unter Leo's Nachfolger Constantin IV. stand er in hohem Ansehen. Er krönte noch den Kaiser Romanus Lekapenus und starb heilig am 15. Mai 925. (III. 509.)
