Philotheus, S. (1)

1S. Philotheus (15. Sept.), ein Priester in Kleinasien, der den Beinamen »Wunderthäter« hat. Er lebte vor dem 10. Jahrh. da er im Menologium Basilianum vorkommt. Nach dem Berichte desselben war er von Jugend auf ein eifriger Verehrer Gottes. Als Priester ergab er sich dem Almosengeben, Fasten, Wachen und Beten und besaß die Wundergabe, so daß er Teufel austrieb, Kranke heilte und Aussätzige reinigte. Unter Vollbringung solcher Werke entschlief er im Frieden. (V. 113.)
