Euphemius (4)

4Euphemius, ein Franciscaner der strengsten Observanz, war im Königreiche Neapel um das J. 1576 geboren, und seit 1600 Priester. Voll des heiligen Geistes zog er auf Predigen aus, und predigte vom Süden herauf bis Innsbruck und München, die Gemüther der Gläubigen tief erschütternd. In Innsbruck erhielt ein stummes Mädchen die Sprache durch ihn. Sein Predigerzug lag in der Mitte des 30jährigen Krieges von 1630 bis 1640. Er kehrte dann nach Italien zurück und starb im J. 1648 im 72sten Jahre seines Alters. (Em.)
