1S. Euphronius, Ep. (3. Aug.) Vom Griech. εἴφρων = frohsinnig, freudig, wohlmeinend etc. – Dieser hl. Euphronius zeichnete sich durch Frömmigkeit und Wissenschaft aus, ließ noch als Priester zu Ehren des hl. Martyrers Symphorian zu Autun eine Kirche bauen, und schickte Marmor nach Tours, um das Grabmal des hl. Martinus zu zieren. Den hl. Bischof Sidonius Apollinaris von Auvergne und den hl. Bischof Lupus von Troyes zählte er zu seinen Freunden. Als Bischof von Autun (Augustodunum) unterzeichnete er das im J. 475 zu Arles gehaltene Concil, und kann sohin vor 476 nicht gestorben seyn. Seine Ruhestätte fand er in der Kirche des hl. Symphorian.

Des Heiligen gedenkt auch das röm. Martyrologium am 3. August. (I. 227.)
